How to choose the right powered pallet truck?

Choosing the right truck is not always easy. We guide you through the most important things to consider.

What will the truck be used for?

This is the key question. Also consider future needs: if you are planning expansion, a change in warehouse layout or different loads, the type of truck you need may be different. If you only need a truck during seasonal peaks, consider rental.

For short horizontal transport

Pedestrian powered pallet trucks with capacities from 1.3 to 2.5 t do the job perfectly. An ergonomic tiller arm with controls at your fingertips and a compact chassis make them intuitive for everyday work. If you are moving up from a hand pallet truck, an entry-level model such as the BT Tyro may be sufficient.

Models for different needs

Entry-level model

Light and compact, with a lithium-ion battery, 1.3 and 1.55 t capacity.

Low-intensity model

Built-in charger, 1.3 t capacity, smart truck.

Li-ion model

Built around a lithium-ion battery, 1.6 t capacity.

For light- to heavy-duty work

Easy to use, available with lithium-ion, 1.4 to 2.5 t, and in a cold store version.

For transport over longer distances and on lorries

Longer distances

For more intensive work or large warehouses, choose a powered pallet truck with a folding platform, which can be used both as a pedestrian and a ride-on truck. Stand-on or seated models offer even more protection and ergonomics at higher speeds – they are perfect for cross-docking.

In lorries or confined spaces

Choose compact and lightweight trucks. An on-board charger allows charging while the truck is in the lorry on the road, so no extra charging breaks are needed. Different fork lengths are also available for easier manoeuvring inside the lorry.

How intense is the application?

Capacity

Think about the heaviest weight you need to move. Choose a capacity that suits your current as well as future needs. Our powered pallet trucks have capacities from 1.3 to 2.5 t.

Usage

Frequent use in an intensive environment requires a more robust and powerful truck with a higher capacity. Also check the battery options, so the truck can run for as long as you need.

Adapt the truck to your needs

  • Wheels – according to application and floor surface (see the wheel guide).
  • Batteries – different capacities and technologies: lead-acid or lithium-ion.
  • Cold store version – low-temperature oil.
  • Load backrest – extra safety with tall or unstable loads.
  • Side protection – fixed platform with side guards or backrest.
  • On-board charger – charging from a standard socket.
  • In-vehicle charging – charging during transport by lorry.

Do you lift goods occasionally?

Then the solution is a stacker, from light to heavy-duty models:

  • manual and semi-electric stackers for low intensity and small warehouses,
  • electric pedestrian stackers for more demanding applications,
  • ride-on stackers for long distances in the warehouse.
