Single fork wheels are recommended on smooth floors and allow easy turning, but wear faster. They are always combined with an entry/exit roller at the fork tip for easy handling of pallets from the long side.
Tandem (bogie) wheels are better for uneven floors: the ride is smoother and more stable, and the load is distributed over more wheels, so wear on each wheel is lower.
